R2-D2

Wednesday, April 4th, 2007

So as some of you may know Lucasfilms and the Post Office are teaming up and putting R2-D2 mailboxes at various locations.

The Star Wars site has a PDF you can print out to make your own.

You know you want one.

I am very tempted to make one for my desk at school. It would be perfect for the kids to put late passes in.

Happy Birthday!

Little Sis turns four today. We partied on Saturday. She requested a garden-tea party theme, and we aim to please.

We ordered a bunch of plastic teacups and served apple juice “tea” out of several of my old teapots…that went over really big with the girls. They all got flowers to clip in their hair and we made flower bracelets.

Otherwise they just played with all her toys. I used to try to do games and stuff, but I have found that kids really just want to play with other kid’s toys. Cheap and easy.

It’s hard to believe my baby is so big. She was not very happy about this birthday. She kept telling us she wanted no gifts, no party, no birthday at all.

Then he other night as I was asking her about her party she burst into tears. She thought we were getting her an apartment and making her leave. Poor kid! No-one is ready for that yet.

Turns out Big-sis had told her that when you are a grown up you cannot live at home anymore. She somehow got the idea that when you turn four you are a grown up. She was pretty relieved to find out she had until she was 18 and was quite happy Big-sis would be staying also.

Although the idea of her living in her own apartment is pretty funny.

Inspiration

I have been planning the girl’s spring wardrobe for several weeks now, but we’ve been so busy I haven’t had any time to actually sew. So I have been looking for something to give me a kick in the pants to get started.

Here it is: Primrose Design has been posting an amazing Stitch School. I love this. Her pictures are so clear. I used to collect all these embroidery dictionaries from Colonial Williamsburg when I was a kid. We visited my Grandmother in CWE every year, and they published these tiny books of stitches. I loved them. The instructions at Primrose reminds me of a lot of the stitches I used to find in these books.

I especially want to try the Italian Stitch along the edge of a pair of capris…or even up the side.
